# Using number comparators in a segment

You can use a number comparator to compare number values, or verify that a number value is present. You can also use a number comparator when [applying a set limit filter](https://doc.sitecore.com/cdp/en/users/sitecore-cdp/introduction-to-batch-segmentation/create-and-add-rules-to-a-segment-in-sitecore-cdp/apply-a-set-limit-filter-to-a-segment-in-sitecore-cdp.html "Apply a set limit filter to a segment in Sitecore CDP") to a segment.

The following table describes number comparators you can use when creating segments:

| **Number comparator** | **Description** |
| --- | --- |
| **is equal to** | Determines whether the number is equal to the specified value. |
| **is not equal to** | Verifies that the numeric value is not equal to the specified value. |
| **is greater than** | Determines whether the number is greater than the specified value. |
| **is greater than or equal to** | Determines whether the number is greater than or equal to the specified value. |
| **is less than** | Determines whether the number is less than the specified value. |
| **is less than or equal to** | Determines whether the number is less than or equal to the specified value. |
| **is between** | Determines whether a numeric or date value falls within a specified range. |
| **is not between** | Determines whether a numeric or date value falls outside a specified range. |
| **is null** | Verifies that the value is null. |
| **is not null** | Verifies that the value is not null. |
