Start an experiment in Sitecore Personalize
After you create an experiment, you can set it to immediately run, or schedule it to start and end on a particular date and time. This also includes the option of running the experiment indefinitely, with no end date.
You can start an experiment from a draft or paused state.
To start or schedule an experiment:
-
On the experiment builder, click Start.
-
To set when the experiment starts running, select one of the following radio buttons:
-
Now - the experiment will run immediately.
-
Schedule - set a specific start date and time for the experiment.
-
-
If you selected Schedule in the previous step, additional fields will display.
Click the calendar to select your preferred start date and enter the start time in HH : MM format.
-
To set when the experiment stops running, select one of the following radio buttons:
-
Run Forever - the experiment will run indefinitely.
-
End date - set a specific end date and time for the experiment.
NoteAny start or end dates that you set to run the experiment are based on your organization's timezone.
-
-
Optionally, before running the experiment, you might want to go to the Summary pane to check details such as the type of experiment, testing type, sample size, and goals.
-
Click either Start or Schedule based on your selection in step 2.
The status banner will briefly display a Publishing status for the experiment before changing to either Live or Scheduled status.
NoteIf you are restarting an experiment from a paused state, it can take a few minutes to restart, depending on the edits made. Due to this, you might not see data immediately on the Operational tab for the restarted experiment.
-
In the confirmation dialog, click Done.
When live, personalization is in effect and any variants can potentially be shown to guests. You can immediately see operational data for the experiment, and within 24 hours, you can view how the variants are performing against each other in analytics. This lets you see which variant is leading or if a winner has been declared.
