# Delete an asset

Content Hub ONE uses a [media management system](https://doc.sitecore.com/ch-one/en/developers/content-hub-one/content-management-api/media-items/content-hub-one-architecture.md "Content Hub ONE architecture") (MMS) to upload assets and make them available for use in content. When a media item is deleted from Content Hub ONE, the corresponding asset file is deleted from the MMS. If you upload an asset in error, you can remove it from the MMS.

> [!note]
> The [base URL](https://doc.sitecore.com/ch-one/en/developers/content-hub-one/content-management-api/media-items/content-management-api.html "Content Management API") for the Media upload API is `https://mms-upload.sitecorecloud.io`.

Use this method to delete an asset using the file ID that was created when [generating the upload links](https://doc.sitecore.com/ch-one/en/developers/content-hub-one/content-management-api/media-items/upload-an-asset.html#UUID-a92c248c-3377-065d-3d22-5a84ba1b2ad5_N1711651045053 "Generate upload links for multiple assets in bulk").

```curl
curl --location --request DELETE '<BASE_URL>/api/media/v1/upload/file/<FILE_ID>'
--header 'Authorization: <BEARER_TOKEN>'
```
