# Create localizations

To deliver content to specific markets, you create [localizations](https://doc.sitecore.com/ch-one/en/users/content-hub-one/localize-content.html "Localize content"). A localization is an exact copy of a primary content item or an existing localization with a different locale assigned. After you create a localization, you can [translate the content](https://doc.sitecore.com/ch-one/en/users/content-hub-one/localize-content/refine,-improve,-or-translate-text-using-ai.md "Refine, improve, or translate text using AI") and update the content item.

If the content item is a localization, it is indicated on the content item's details page. In the following example, this content item is the Swedish localization and the primary content item is in English.

> When you create a localization and the primary content item contains [reference fields](https://doc.sitecore.com/ch-one/en/users/content-hub-one/localize-content/manage-content-type-fields.html#UUID-ccae5f2e-89de-49f6-85e9-f66324e82032_referenceDefn), you can create localizations of the reference items at the same time, or later if you prefer.

To create a localization:

1. On the menu bar, click **Content**.
2. On the **Content** page, click the content item for which you want to create a localization.
3. On the content item details page, in the **LOCALIZATION** section, click ![plus-chone.png](https://doc.sitecore.com/api/markdown-image/ch-one/en/users/content-hub-one/images/plus-chone.png) **Add localization**.
4. In the **Add localization** dialog, enter the name of the locale and then select it. As you type, the list of locales is filtered to match what you enter.
5. Click **Add** or **Continue**.

    If the content item includes reference items that are not localized, the **Localize reference items** dialog opens.

6. In the **Localize reference items** dialog, do one of the following:
    - To create a localization of a reference item, click **Localize** and then click **Continue**.
    - To open the reference item in a new tab, click **Open in new window** ![open-in-new-chone.png](https://doc.sitecore.com/api/markdown-image/ch-one/en/users/content-hub-one/images/open-in-new-chone.png).
    - To skip the localization step for reference items, click **Continue**.
