# Find content

In Content Hub ONE, you can easily find what you're looking for by using the following tools:

- Search box
- Sort fields
- Filter list

> [!note]
> When no search keyword or sort order is specified, items on the **Content** page and the **Media** page are sorted by *Updated date* in descending order. When a search keyword is specified but no sort order is selected, items are sorted by relevancy.

> [!tip]
> When you search, sort, or filter content, the associated parameters are automatically appended to the current page URL. For example, if you search for the term *article* and sort the search results by **STATUS** in ascending order, `searchTerm=article&sortBy=sys.status&sortDirection=ascending` is appended to the URL. Copy the URL to share the search results with others.

## Search box

Entering three or more characters in the **Search** box initiates a search, which:

- Examines the name, item ID, and all other text fields for the string of text.
- If the search contains a single term, and no wildcards are included, the *StartsWith* wildcard mode is used by default. This means that the search term is treated as if it ends with an asterisk, without one needing to be included, so a search for the term *app* returns results such as *app*, *apple*, *apparel*, and so on.
- If the search includes multiple terms, each one is treated as the start of a word, so searching for *apple pie* returns *apple pie*, *apple pies*, *apple pieces*, and so on. To match your query, the result must include at least one word starting with each of the search terms, so searching for *apple pie* would not return results that contain only *apple*, or only *pie*, and not both.
- Supports wildcards, which help you locate items if you are unsure of the exact search term. The ? wildcard represents a single unknown character, and the \* wildcard represents one or more unknown characters. For example, *organi?e* returns *organize* and *organise*.
- Searches for each term separately, and not as a phrase. The order of the search terms is not considered. For example, a search for *apple pie* and *pie apple* brings up the same results. How the results are ordered may differ, however, because the first term is given more weight than subsequent terms.
- Does not consider case so, for example, search results for *apple*, *APPLE*, *Apple*, and *aPpLe* would be the same.
- Supports AND and OR operators. For example, if the search term is *apples AND oranges*, only results that include the word *apples* and the word *oranges* are returned. If the search term is *apples OR oranges*, search results include *apples*, *oranges*, or both.

    > [!note]
    > The operator must be uppercase with a space on either side.

## Sort fields

Clicking certain column headers on a page containing sortable data will cause that data to be sorted by the chosen column.

| Page | Sortable columns |
| --- | --- |
| Content | NameDate last updatedDate last publishedStatus |
| Media | NameFile typeFile sizeDate updatedDate publishedStatus |
| Taxonomies | NameDate last updated |

## Filter list

You can use filters to limit the number of items displayed according to specific conditions. If more than one filter of the same type is applied, such as two content type filters, the results include items that match any of these conditions. If more than one type of filter is applied, such as a content type filter and a status filter, results only include items that match both filter types.

For content items, you can filter on content type, status, locale, and taxonomies. You can also filter on primary content items. For media items, you can filter on file type and status. For both types of items, a text field is available that automatically refreshes the displayed list to only show items of the type you enter or only the taxonomies specified. A status filter lets you select the status of the items you want displayed.
