# Rule

A Rule Object represents a rule in a policy. It defines the conditions that must be met and the permissions that are applied on the entities that meet said conditions.

It is an object with the following properties:

| Name | Type | Description |
| --- | --- | --- |
| `definition` | [Link](https://doc.sitecore.com/ch/en/developers/cloud-dev/link.html) | A link to the entity definition for which this rule applies. |
| `conditions` | Array | An array containing [Condition objects](https://doc.sitecore.com/ch/en/developers/cloud-dev/condition.html). |
| `permissions` | Array | An array containing strings with permissions to apply. |
