Transformations
Transformations allow Superusers to manage the configuration of preset renditions and to have these presets applied to Renditions dynamically. More specifically; Transformations enables renditions, in different dimensions, to be provided to users without the need to regenerate the Public link.
The Transformations option is available under Manage:
On the Transformations page, the existing transformations are listed:
Edit Transformation:
The existing Transformations can be edited via the . This icon opens a new modal:
Transformation crop option:
There is a crop option, which can be changed:
Crop Option | Description |
---|---|
None | No crop |
Smart crop | Smart crop is a feature that intelligently examines the content of an image and automatically focuses on the essential part of an image for cropping. This focus automatically searches the image for edges, skin tones and areas of saturated color, and attempts to position the crop box over the most significant feature. |
Crop to center | Crop to Center provides a Rendition that can be resized with the aspect ratio unlocked. This option positions the crop box to the center of the image. |
Dimensions
The dimensions of the Transformation are defined by either the Width or the Height. This value can be edited.
Pay attention to the naming convention of the default transformations, as they might require editing if the height or width values are changed (e.g. w1200).
The Transformation image will be scaled to this width or height depending on the selected Crop option:
Quality
The quality of the Transformation can be amended by selecting from the options from the dropdown menu of:
- Maximum quality
- High quality
- Medium quality
- Low quality
Add a new Transformation
There is the option to add a new Transformation via the button, this opens a new modal for the input of the details of the new Transformation:
The options on the new modal are:
- Name is an alphanumeric field.
- Crop is a dropdown option, with the values of None; Smart crop; Crop to center.
- The dimensions are defined by Width and/or Height; these values are numeric and in px measurement.
- Quality is a dropdown, with the values of Maximum quality; High quality; Medium quality: Low quality.
Once the values have been input, click on the button.
The new Transformation can be be used. To apply a transformation to an asset, users need to append the Transformation's name to the URL of the Public link as a query parameter named t. For example, we can apply a transformation called NewTransformation to an asset by appending the value &t=NewTransformation
to the public link's URL:
