Adobe Illustrator

Important

The Adobe CC connector is blocked in Illustrator 2021 version 25.4 due to an Adobe Illustrator issue. For more information on this issue, see the Adobe forum.

Adobe Illustrator is a vector graphics editor and design program. It is the companion product of Adobe Photoshop. Photoshop is primarily geared toward digital photo manipulation and photorealistic styles of computer illustration, while Illustrator provides results in the typesetting and logo graphic areas of design.

The asset is included in your Adobe Illustrator document as an embedded object:

  • You can use the Illustrator built-in options to manipulate and transform your objects as needed.
  • For more information, please refer to the Adobe Illustrator User Guide.

If your Illustrator document is new, you should save it first.

Note

Saving your Illustrator document first allows you to choose a file name. Otherwise, Content Hub will check it in with the original file name (e.g. untitled-x.ai).

On the Sitecore Content Hub modal:

  1. Click on the menu indesign sitecore menu: indesign_sitecore_asset_check_in_menu.png icon.

  2. Select Check in Active Document:

check in to dam option: illustrator_sitecore_menu_check_in_active_doc.png

  3. If you did not save your document first:

    • Content Hub will ask if you want to save and check in.
    • Click on Confirm:

save document message from Illustrator to sitecore: illustrator_sitecore_menu_check_in_active_message.png

  4. If your document does not have an earlier checked-in version:

    • Content Hub will ask if you want to upload it as a new asset.
    • Click on Confirm:

no existing asset for the document message: illustrator_sitecore_menu_check_in_no_existing_asset.png

  5. Your checked-in Adobe Illustrator document now appears as an asset on the Create page of your Content Hub instance:

    • From this page, you can submit your document for review as any asset.
    • For more information about the Create page, see Upload assets.
    • For more information about the review process, see Review.
  6. If your document already has an earlier checked-in version, it will be saved as a new version of the existing asset and automatically set as the master version (public link remains the same).

    Note

The new version of the Adobe Illustrator document is uploaded as a new version, so it does not go through the review process.

To check out an asset from Content Hub to Illustrator:

  1. In the Sitecore Content Hub modal, search for your asset (.ai document).

  2. Click on the checkout illustrator sitecore check-in icon : illustrator_sitecore_checkin_icon.png icon:

discard and check-in icons highlighted in adobe illustrator: illustrator_sitecore_menu_checked_out_opened_icons.png

    Note

The asset is locked in Content Hub so no one can make any changes while you are working.

  • Check it in back into Content Hub by clicking on the check-in illustrator sitecore check-in icon : illustrator_sitecore_checkin_icon.png icon.

  • The asset will be uploaded to Content Hub:

  • When the check-in is complete, you can close your Adobe Illustrator document.

    Note
