Adobe InDesign

To enable the extension:

1. Open Adobe InDesign.

2. On the menu bar, click Window and then click Extensions, Sitecore Content Hub.

   

3. After the Sitecore Content Hub modal opens, enter your Content Hub URL and click on Login.

4. A new login window opens in your default browser. If you are not already logged in to your Sitecore Content Hub instance, log in now.

   

   Note

   If you are already logged into your Sitecore Content Hub instance, you are taken directly to the Authorization page (see below).

5. After you have logged in, grant Content Hub access by clicking on Grant:

   

6. The authorization completes and you get this message:

   

7. Back to Adobe InDesign, the Sitecore Content Hub modal opens on the Assets tab:

   

The Sitecore Content Hub modal has four tabs:

Assets tab

The ASSETS tab shows the approved assets in Sitecore DAM. The tab includes the following functions:

• Full-text search
• Asset type and asset media facet search (please note that the facets are visible only if there is data)
• Page count
• Number of assets displayed per page

• Date created and Date modified sorting with a reverse sort direction option

  

In the ASSETS tab, you will find the following icons on each asset thumbnail:

• Drags and drops the asset into your InDesign document.
• Checks out the asset to InDesign (the asset will open in a new InDesign document).
• Checks in the previously checked out asset back into Content Hub.
• Discards the asset checkout.

To see a sneak-peek of your assets, you can enable the preview feature in your Adobe Indesign product. Once you have enabled this preview, re-save your InDesign files with the correct setting.

Jobs tab

A job is a single space for teams and departments to collaborate over specific content independently. For more information on Jobs, please see Jobs.

The JOBS tab shows all the jobs that the logged-in user is assigned to:

From the JOBS tab, you can:

• Use assets included in a job in an InDesign document.

• Check out the assets:

  

Pending approval tab

The PENDING APPROVAL tab shows the assets that are:

• Created but not submitted for approval yet: these assets have a NEW label.

• Submitted for approval: these assets have an IN REVIEW label.

  

In the PENDING APPROVAL tab, you will find the following icons on each asset thumbnail:

• Drags and drops the asset into your InDesign document.
• Checks out the asset to InDesign (the asset will open in a new InDesign document).
• Checks in the previously checked-out asset back into Content Hub.
• Discards the asset checkout.
• Submits the asset for approval (if you do not see this icon, the asset is already submitted for approval).

Checkouts tab

The CHECKOUTS tab shows the assets that you checked out to InDesign:

To insert an asset from Sitecore Content Hub into an Adobe InDesign document:

1. Click on this icon and drag the asset into your InDesign document.

2. Click on your document to drop the asset.

The asset is included in your Adobe InDesign document as an object:

• You can use the InDesign built-in options to manipulate and transform your objects as needed.
• For more information, please refer to the Adobe InDesign User Guide.

The asset object in your InDesign document uses the associated public link in Content Hub:

• If the asset changes in Content Hub, InDesign will let you know with a warning in the Links window:

  

• To update your asset, double-click on the link: your asset will refresh in InDesign to match Content Hub, and the warning in the InDesign Links window will disappear:

  

If your InDesign document is new, you should save it first.

On the Sitecore Content Hub modal:

1. Click on the menu icon.

2. Select Check in Active Document.

3. If you did not save your document first:

   • Content Hub will ask if you want to save and check in.
   • Click on Confirm:

   

4. If your document does not have an earlier checked-in version:

   • Content Hub will ask if you want to upload it as a new asset.
   • Click on Upload:

   

5. Your checked-in Adobe InDesign document now appears as an asset on the Create page of your Content Hub instance:

   • From this page, you can submit your document for review as any asset.
   • For more information about the Create page, please see Upload assets.
   • For more information about the review process, please see Review.

   

6. If your document already has an earlier checked-in version, it will be saved as a new version of the existing asset and automatically set as the master version (public link remains the same).

   Note

   During checkout, your document is locked in Content Hub so no one can make any changes while you are working. It will be unlocked after you check it back in. The new version of the Adobe InDesign document is uploaded as a new version, so it does not go through the review process.

Local links

If you used an image from your local hard drive in your InDesign document:

1. Content Hub will notice and ask if you want to upload the local image as an asset.

2. If yes, click on Upload:

   

Children assets field

You can find the assets included in your Adobe InDesign Document on Content Hub:

1. Go to your InDesign document's Asset detail page.

2. On the right-hand side, under the SYSTEM tab, look under the Children field:

Linked assets page component

In Content Hub, it is possible to add a Linked Assets page component on Asset detail pages:

• The Linked Assets page component shows the assets used in an InDesign document.
• You can access each linked asset from there with a simple click.

To make the Linked Assets page component visible:

1. Go to Manage > Pages > Asset Details.

2. Under Main Zone, find the Linked assets component:

   

3. Click on the actions icon, and select Settings:

   

4. Enable the Visible toggle button:

   

5. Click on SAVE.

Uploading an InDesign package to Content Hub allows you to upload all the elements included in your document: you create a folder that contains the document as well as any necessary fonts, linked graphics, text files, and a customized report.

To upload your package to Content Hub:

1. On the Sitecore Content Hub Modal, click on the menu icon.

2. Select Upload package:

   

3. The uploaded package will appear on the Create page of your Content Hub instance:

   

   • From this page, you can submit your package for review as any asset.
   • For more information about the Create page, please see Upload assets.
   • For more information about the review process, please see Review.

1. To check out your Adobe InDesign package, click on the icon:

   

2. The package will open in InDesign.

   Note

   During checkout, your package is locked in Content Hub so no one can make any changes while you are working. It will be unlocked after you check it back in.

Once you have made your changes, you can check in your package back into Content Hub.

If your package is new, you should save it first.

On the Sitecore Content Hub modal:

1. Click on the icon:

   

2. If you did not save your package first:

   • Content Hub will ask if you want to save and check in.
   • Click on Confirm:

   

3. Your package will be uploaded to Content Hub as an InDesign document: this document is automatically set as the new master version of the asset:

   

   Note

   The Adobe InDesign package is uploaded as a new version, so it does not go through the review process.

4. If you want to keep the asset as a package, select the Upload Package option from the Sitecore Content Hub modal menu:

   

5. Your package will be uploaded as a new version and will automatically be set as the master version:

   

6. When the check-in/upload is complete, you can close your Adobe InDesign document/package.
