Sitecore next-gen cloud edge network provides four critical capabilities:

  1. Includes static and dynamic Content Delivery Network (CDN) to dramatically reduce page load times, improve download and upload performance, and lower bandwidth use.

  2. Delivers enhanced security measures using advanced web application firewall (WAF) and anti-DDoS techniques.

  3. Uses compute-at-the-edge functionality to bring computational capabilities, like image transformations, as close to you as possible.

  4. Manages SSL and TLS certificates and provides a seamless SSL provisioning process for your vanity domain names.

Web application firewall

The WAF of Sitecore protects against malicious attacks that aim to exploit vulnerabilities, including SQL injection, XSS, and more, by using an OWASP core ruleset. To protect against new and zero-day vulnerabilities, Sitecore relies on a specifically designed managed rule set. As the vulnerability landscape changes fast, Sitecore regularly updates managed rule sets to provide fast and seamless protection against the latest attack vectors.

DDoS protection

Sitecore un-metered, always-on DDoS protection for your web assets (HTTP/HTTPS) is powered by the intelligence harnessed from the always-learning global Sitecore network. DDoS protection works in tandem with the cloud web application firewall (WAF), bot management, and other L3/4 security services to protect assets from cyber threats of all kinds.

Static and dynamic CDNs

A separate CDN endpoint is not needed. All traffic going toward a Content Hub central instance or delivery endpoint flows through the cloud edge network, is CDN enabled, and has smart and advanced content caching by default.

SSL and TLS certificate management

The cloud edge network manages all certificates with enhanced security and automatic renewals. Every endpoint gets a dedicated certificate, removing the need to use self-provided wildcard certificates.


If you do not want to use this feature, you can deliver your certificates. In that case, you are responsible for delivering renewed certificates before the expiration time to prevent application downtime.

A smart caching system can cache POST calls at the edge with compute-at-the-edge capabilities, dramatically reducing latency to improve performance for all cacheable content, including GET and POST GraphQL requests.
