Chart This functionality requires elevated permissions.

The Chart component lets you create reports of current and past events, and visualize audit data. It uses historical reporting to represent Sitecore Content Hub data as a two-dimensional chart, which you define on the Historical tab.

Note

A second type of report using operational reporting is available, but it has deprecated. Previously, this was used to represent one-dimensional data such as the total number of assets associated with a geographical region, but we now recommend you use the Search component configured in chart view instead.

By applying a chart filter, you can add a time dimension to a chart as shown in the following example.

Chart and chart filter example.

Add a chart

To add a chart:

  1. On the menu bar, click Manage .

  2. On the Manage page, click Pages.

  3. On the Pages page, select the page you want to modify.

  4. On the Layout tab, add the page component.

  5. Click the component to open its details page.

  6. Depending on the type of report, click one of the following tabs and define the associated properties:

Use this tab to use operational reporting based on a saved search. This method is deprecated in favor of using a Search component.

    SettingDescription
Create saved searchOpens the Dashboard builder dialog box where you can create a saved search.
Select a searchSelect the check box next to the search you want to use when rendering the chart.
Select chart dimensionsAfter selecting a saved search, choose a chart dimension. This groups data into categories (for example, the asset media dimension groups data into various categories such as videos, vectors, images, and so on).
  7. After selecting the principal dimension, specify the following fields:

    FieldDescription
SortingSorts results alphabetically or using a metric.
TopFilters out a subset of the entire data results. This field is useful when the X-axis contains a lot of grouping values or when trying to exclude some observed outliers from the report.
Sorting orderSorts the derived results in ascending or descending order.
Group byClick Set to group results by based on the selected type.
  8. For operational reports, in the right pane, define chart properties.

    PropertyDescription
Chart titleThe title displayed above the graph.
Chart sizesThe size of the graph on the page (small, medium, or large). Multiple graphs can be added on a single page using multiple chart components.
Chart typeHow the data is presented (as a number chart, pie chart, or donuts chart).
Metric labelThe text label displayed on the Y-axis of a column chart graph.
MetricType of aggregation to apply to chart data.
Limit dimensions slicesFilter that limits the data to a subset of the results. This is useful when the X-axis contains a lot of grouping values or when you want to exclude outliers.
SortingHow chart data is sorted (alphabetically or by metric.)
Sorting orderThe sort order (ascending or descending).
  9. To view the chart, in the top-right corner of the application window, click Preview.

  10. Click Save and close.

Note

To remove a saved search, open the Dashboard builder and, on the Saved tab, next to the saved search click More actions More Actions icon. and then click Delete.

Tip

You can print and download large charts. To do so, on the Dashboard tab, click Preview. In the Preview window, click Chart context menu Ellipse icon. and choose one of the options. The Download reporting logs option generates a JSON file that includes all documents with the selected filters.
