# Create a news item

> To configure Content Hub, you must either be a superuser or have the necessary permissions granted to you through [user group policies](https://doc.sitecore.com/ch/en/users/content-hub/user-group-policies.html "User group policies").

To create a news item:

1. On the menu bar, click **Manage** :mdiCogOutline:.
2. On the **Manage** page, click **News items**.
3. On the **News items** page, click :mdiPlus: **News item**.
4. In the **News items detail page**, fill in the following fields:

    | Field name | Description |
    | --- | --- |
    | **Title** | Mandatory field used to identify the news item. |
    | **Type** | Determines how the news item appears on the page:<br><br><ul><li>*Home featured* displays a single news item.</li><li>*Home carousel* displays multiple news items, using a carousel.</li></ul> |
    | **Link** | Can contain hyperlinks and images (portal assets or all assets). |
    | **Description** | Can contain hyperlinks and images (portal assets or all assets) but is used mainly for text input. |
    | **Image** | Enter the image name or click :mdiPlus: to select it from the list. |

5. Click **Save**.
