# Import a package

> [!note]
> To configure Content Hub, you must either be a superuser or have the necessary permissions granted to you through [user group policies](https://doc.sitecore.com/ch/en/users/content-hub/user-group-policies.html "User group policies").

You can transfer content and data packages between environments by exporting and importing packages.

> [!warning]
> When you import a package, the settings in the package override the settings in the current environment [settings](https://doc.sitecore.com/ch/en/users/content-hub/import-behavior.html "Import behavior").
>
> If an import fails, entities with dependencies (for example, `Portal.PageComponent` and `Portal.PageDefinition`) are automatically rolled back to their previous state. Other changes from the import are not automatically reverted. To undo those changes, [restore your environment using a recovery package](https://doc.sitecore.com/ch/en/users/content-hub/recover-a-failed-import.html "Recover a failed import").

To import a package:

1. On the menu bar, click **Manage** :mdiCogOutline:.
2. On the **Manage** page, click **Import/Export**.
3. On the **Import/Export** page, in the **Import** section, click **Choose file**.
4. In the **Upload** dialog, do one of the following:
    - Drag and drop the package you want to upload.
    - Click **Select file**, then open the package you want to upload.

You can [preview the impact of the imported changes](https://doc.sitecore.com/ch/en/users/content-hub/create-a-simulation-report-to-review-changes.html "Create a simulation report to review changes") or find the details of the import job on the [**Background processes** page](https://doc.sitecore.com/ch/en/users/content-hub/view-background-process-logs.html "View background process logs"). The *targets* in the import job details indicate the number of each element type with import data in the package, such as entity definitions, policies, or taxonomies.

> [!tip]
> You can see the progress of any active exports on the [**Current activity**](https://doc.sitecore.com/ch/en/users/content-hub/current-activity.html "Current activity") tab of the **Stats** page, which you can access from the **Manage** page. An export is considered healthy if the majority of its finished jobs have completed successfully.
