# Search for similar images

Being able to search for visually similar images is useful, for example, if:

- You're working on a new campaign and want to find similar images to one used in an existing campaign.
- You've seen an image and you want to find something similar in the Content Hub asset repository.

The search criteria for visually similar images can be determined by:

- A reference image - find images in Content Hub that are visually similar to an image of your choosing.
- A text description - find images by describing in words what you are looking for.
- A color - find images that contain the highest concentration of a specific color.
- An existing Content Hub image - find images that are similar to an existing Content Hub image asset.

> These search criteria cannot be combined with one another, but you can use them with other [facets](https://doc.sitecore.com/ch/en/users/content-hub/facets.html "Facets"), such as market or brand.

When you search based on an uploaded image, a color, or a description, your search criteria are added to the list of applied filters, as shown in the following example.

To search for similar images:

1. On the menu bar, click **Assets**.
2. On the **Assets** page, to upload a reference image and search for images that are visually similar, do one of the following:
    - Next to the search box, click **Search using an image** :mdiImageSearchOutline:, navigate to the folder where the image is saved, select it, and then click **Open**.
    - Drag an image from your computer into the search box.
    - Copy an image to the clipboard, click in the search box, and paste the image.
    - In the search box, click **Show options** > :mdiImageSearchOutline: **Visual Search**, and then paste a publicly available image URL into the search box.
3. To use a search string, in the search box, enter a simple description of the image you are looking for and press Enter.
4. To search for images by color, next to the search box, click **Search by color** :mdiPaletteOutline: and, in the drop-down list, click a color.
5. To search for images that are similar to an existing Content Hub asset, click **View similar assets** :mdiFileFind: or select an asset and, in the upper-right corner of the application window, click **View similar assets** :mdiFileFind:. You can only use one asset at a time for this type of search, so the icon will not be visible if more than one asset is selected.
