# Set a project as a template

You can use any project as a template in order to [speed up the creation process](https://doc.sitecore.com/ch/en/users/content-hub/create-a-project-from-a-template.html "Create a project from a template").

> [!note]
> If you are using a multi-stage project as a template, we recommend that it uses stages without start dates. If a stage has a start date in a template, then that date is used for that stage in the project, regardless of the start date for the project itself. Similarly, if a [milestone](https://doc.sitecore.com/ch/en/users/content-hub/add-a-milestone.html "Add a milestone") has a date in a template, then that date is used for that milestone in the project, regardless of the start date of the project.

To set a project as a template:

1. On the menu bar, click **Project** > **Projects**.
2. On the **Projects** page, click the project you want to set as a template.
3. On the project details page, on the **Details** tab, in the **Template** section, click **Edit** :mdiPencilOutline:.
4. Next to the **Is template** field, click **Add** :mdiPlus:.
5. In the **Is template** dialog, select the **Yes** check box, and click **OK**.
6. Next to the **Template** title, click **Save**.
