# Translate content using AI

> AI capabilities in Content Hub need to be enabled and, if necessary, configured by a *superuser* or a user with the necessary permissions granted to them through [user group policies](https://doc.sitecore.com/ch/en/users/content-hub/user-group-policies.html "User group policies"). Most AI capabilities require Sitecore Stream.

You can turn the AI-assisted content translation feature on or off. When AI-assisted content generation is turned on, the **Translate** switch is displayed in the **Localize** dialog.

Before you can [translate content](https://doc.sitecore.com/ch/en/users/content-hub/ai-assisted-content-translation.html "AI-assisted content translation"), you need to ensure you [add culture codes](https://doc.sitecore.com/ch/en/users/content-hub/add-a-culture-code-for-content-translation.html "Add a culture code for content translation").

> You want to translate individual fields, use the [field-level content generation](https://doc.sitecore.com/ch/en/users/content-hub/configure-field-level-text-generation.html) feature.

To translate content using AI:

1. On the menu bar, click **Content** > **Search**.
2. On the **Search** page, search for the desired content item and click it to open its details page.
3. On the content details page, on the menu bar, click **More actions** :mdiDotsHorizontal: > **Localize** :mdiTranslate:.
4. In the **Localize** dialog:
    - In the **Name** field, enter a name for the localized content item (for example, *Fruitful Summer (fr-FR)*).
    - Next to the **Locale** field, click **Add** :mdiPlus:, select the language for the localized content (for example, *fr-FR*), and click **Save**.
5. To translate the content, turn on the **Translate with AI** switch, and click **Create**.

    A new content item variant is created.
