User logs

In the field of information security, user activity monitoring (UAM) is the monitoring and recording of user actions. UAM captures user actions and is recorded in the User logs. The user logs document all activities by users. The user logs match up with a playback of concurrent actions or events of all the users. For the dictionary of all events, see Reporting Events dictionary.

The User logs are available on the Users page, which is available under Manage:

On the Users page select the User logs tab:

The User logs are displayed in tabular format, with headers:

  • Timestamp
  • Event type
  • Definition
  • User ID
  • User
  • Target ID
  • Created by
  • Created on
  • Modified by
  • Modified on

On the top of the table there are various options:

  • There is a full text search option:

    Searches can be saved by clicking on the saved searches icon icon at the end of the search field.

    If there are any saved searches, they are shown underneath the menu:

    Manage saved searches display all the saved search options. The saved searches can either be called or deleted:

  • There is a page selection option to enable quick navigation through the pages of the User logs, either using the Previous or Next page options:

    There are further page navigation options available from the dropdown menu:

    There is an option to move through the pages using the arrow button to navigate to the desired page, then click on Go:

    The paging options are:

    • First page
    • Previous further page
    • Next page
    • Last page

  • You can select from a dropdown menu different sorting options:

    • Timestamp (default)
    • Event type
    • Definition
    • User ID
    • User
    • Target ID
    • Created by
    • Created on
    • Modified by
    • Modified on
  • The sort can be reversed by clicking on the Reverse sort direction reverse sort direction icon icon.

  • The user logs can be refreshed via the Refresh refresh icon icon.

  • The user logs can be downloaded using the download button:

  • There is an option to select the columns. Tick or untick to either include or exclude the necessary column in the table:
