Reuse

Version: 3.2

There are a number of ways of creating and transforming content, or creating new versions of assets:

  • Localize

  • Adapt

  • Duplicate

These operations can be accessed via the dropdown menu.

Localize

Localize allows the content or campaigns to be adapted for a defined localization. Localization is part of the concept of Transcreation.

For more information about the concept of Transcreation, please see Transcreation.

Content Localization

CMP records the association for content so the original shows localized versions emanating from it, and the localized version shows the content it originates from.

If Localize is selected localize button, a new version of the content is created with a new localization of nl-BE, the original localization is en-US. This allows the content, which was originally created for the English language in the locale of the United States, to be adapted for the Dutch language in Belgium locale. Meaning new content does not have to be created but a new version is created and associated with the original:

content is created with a new localization

A new version of the content is created. When the Usage tab has opened the content that this version was 'localized from' is shown with a clickable link:

If the original content is opened, the new content is shown with a clickable link:

the original content is opened, the new content is shown with a clickable link

However, it is not possible to create a child with the same localization as the parent. An error message is returned in the bottom left of the screen: "Each Child of the content item must have a unique Localization (e.g., nl-BE, es-ES, en-US). Please enter an unused Localization for this new Child".

the original content is opened, the new content is shown with a clickable link

If content must be adapted but not the localization use Adapt.

Campaign Localization

Campaigns can be localized. To localize click on Localization:

Choose the required localization from the available options and click on Select:

The localized version is then created:

The localized version is a duplicate with the only difference being the localized metadata:

campaigns metadata with only localization being different

The Name of the campaign can be amended to help stop confusion. Any content associated with the Campaign is also localized:

campaigns metadata with only localization being different

While the original content's localization remains with the same original Localization;

campaigns metadata with for content remains unchanged

The localization is recorded in Usage:

Adapt

If the Adapt is selected adapt button, a new version is created which can be used for adaptation. In Usage, where the new content is adapted from is shown in Adapted from:

where the new content is adapted from is shown in Adapted from

The new adaption is shown in the original content under Adaptations

new adaption is shown in the original content under Adaptations

Once the adaptations have been complete there are three options:

  • Save.
  • Save as new version
  • Stop editing
options to save adaption

Save and Stop editing save the content as a new separate content item.

While Save as a new version saves the adaption as a version of the content adapted, setting it is as the master version.

Versions can be seen from audience modal window.

For more information about creating Versions and Versioning, please see Versioning.

Duplicate

Duplicate duplicate button creates a duplicate of the original content:

A duplicate is not a version but a separate new content.
