Fragments

Version: 3.2

Fragments are much like assets, except that the content is a text snippet rather than a media file. A fragment consists of a rich text snippet and a title.

Create Fragments

Users can create fragments directly within the content section of any MRM block (basic projects, stages and jobs) by clicking on the ADD button and selecting ‘New Fragment’. The following window pops up:

Subsequently, a title, an appropriate localization and the fragment content needs to be filled out in order to be able to create a fragment.

Fragment details page

Clicking on the title of a fragment thumbnail will redirect users to the fragment details page with all the relevant information. On this page fragment, metadata can be edited, visits to the annotation page can be made, a new version of the fragment added or a localization variant created.

Fragment details page - Overview

On the right-hand panels, we can see the fragment's project-related information:

  • Global review status: The global review status (e.g Approved) is displayed on the left side of the Fragment details page, underneath the fragment's content. For more information about reviewing content, please refer to the Content review.

Localization variant

Sometimes, it’s necessary to localize a Fragment. Localization can be a translation into a different language, but it can also be a localization to include another angle for a different target audience, different region, etc. This is called a localization variant. To create one, users click the image alt textbutton. The following window will pop up.

Users then select the desired localization. For example, for the Belgian market, users might want to use nl-BE. The first part of the property is an indication of the language, in this case Dutch (nl). The second part is an indication of the region, in this case Belgium (BE). They can fill in an appropriate localization for the name property and add the content.

The localized versions of the fragment are displayed in the Fragment details page under the Localized from and Localized to panels.

Fragment localization - Overview

The Localized from panel displays the parent fragment from which the current fragment has been localized (if applicable).

Fragment localization - From

The Localized to panel displays the child fragments that have been localized from the current fragment (i.e. the current fragment is the parent of the fragments under the Localized to panel).

Fragment localization - To

Versioning

Users can create multiple versions of a fragment, from which they can select the master fragment. A new version of the fragment can be created by clicking on the NEW VERSION button in the Fragment details page.
