Fragments
Fragments are much like assets, except that the content is a text snippet rather than a media file. A fragment consists of a rich text snippet and a title.
Create Fragments
Users can create fragments directly within the content section of any MRM block (basic projects, stages and jobs) by clicking on the ADD button and selecting ‘New Fragment’. The following window pops up:
Subsequently, a title, an appropriate localization and the fragment content needs to be filled out in order to be able to create a fragment.
Fragment details page
Clicking on the title of a fragment thumbnail will redirect users to the fragment details page with all the relevant information. On this page fragment, metadata can be edited, visits to the annotation page can be made, a new version of the fragment added or a localization variant created.
Project-related information
On the right-hand panels, we can see the fragment's project-related information:
-
Global review status: The global review status (e.g Approved) is displayed on the left side of the Fragment details page, underneath the fragment's content. For more information about reviewing content, please refer to the Content review.
-
Local reviews: Local reviews of the fragment are displayed in the Local reviews panel. For more information about reviewing content, please refer to the Content review.
-
Parallel reviews: Parallel reviews of the fragment are displayed in the Parallel reviews panel. For more information about reviewing content, please refer to the Content review.
-
Used as content: The Used as content panel displays all the blocks (basic projects, stages and jobs) that are using the fragment as content. The panel also shows the type and the status of the blocks.
-
Used as attachment: The Used as attachment panel displays all the blocks (basic projects, multi-stage projects and stages) that are using the fragment as attachment. The panel also shows the type and the status of the blocks. For more information about attachments, please refer to the Attachments section.
-
Used in tasks: The Used in tasks panel displays all the tasks that are using the fragment. The panel also shows the name, status and the assigned users of the tasks. For more information about tasks, please refer to the Tasks section.
Fragment operations
In the Fragment details page, users can perform some fragment operations.
The operations are as follows:
-
New version: The new version operation creates a new version of the fragment, which updates the fragment's content.
-
Annotate: The annotate operation redirects users to the annotations interface, where users can annotate the fragment. For more information about annotations, please refer to the Annotations section.
-
New localization: The new localization operation adds a new localized version to the fragment, including the name and the content.
-
Fragment diff: The fragment diff operation redirects users to the Fragment diff interface, where they can compare the current version of the fragment with other versions, based on characters, words or lines.
-
Delete: This operation deletes the fragment from the system.
Localization variant
Sometimes, it’s necessary to localize a Fragment. Localization can be a translation into a different language, but it can also be a localization to include another angle for a different target audience, different region, etc. This is called a localization variant. To create one, users click the
button. The following window will pop up.
Users then select the desired localization. For example, for the Belgian market, users might want to use nl-BE. The first part of the property is an indication of the language, in this case Dutch (nl). The second part is an indication of the region, in this case Belgium (BE). They can fill in an appropriate localization for the name property and add the content.
The localized versions of the fragment are displayed in the Fragment details page under the Localized from and Localized to panels.
The Localized from panel displays the parent fragment from which the current fragment has been localized (if applicable).
The Localized to panel displays the child fragments that have been localized from the current fragment (i.e. the current fragment is the parent of the fragments under the Localized to panel).
Versioning
Users can create multiple versions of a fragment, from which they can select the master fragment. A new version of the fragment can be created by clicking on the NEW VERSION button in the Fragment details page.
Fragment diff
The fragment diff feature allows for users to highlight the differences between the master fragment and one of the versions. As shown below, the first paragraph highlights the differences, whereas the second and third paragraph respectively displays the content of the selected version and the master fragment.
