Scaling the Sitecore Cortex Reporting service
The following table describes the ways you can scale the Cortex Reporting service.
Scaling option |
Supported |
Notes |
---|---|---|
Combined instance |
Yes |
You can combine the Sitecore Cortex Reporting service role with any other Experience Platform Service role. |
Standalone instance |
Yes |
You can deploy the Cortex Reporting service as a standalone role. |
High availability and failover |
Yes |
You can failover to a passive instance or set up multiple active instances behind a load balancer. |
Horizontal scaling for load distribution |

You can set up multiple active instances behind a load balancer. All instances of the Cortex Reporting service must read from a centrally located Reporting database. |
In a developer environment, you can combine all XP service roles into a single instance. We do not recommend this setup in a production environment.
