# Integrate using the Events API

Events are integral to everything Sitecore Discover does. Tracking [widget](https://doc.sitecore.com/discover/en/developers/discover-developer-guide/integrate-using-discover-rest-apis/send-a-widget-event-using-the-events-rest-api.md "Send a widget event using the Events REST API") and [funnel](https://doc.sitecore.com/discover/en/developers/discover-developer-guide/integrate-using-discover-rest-apis/send-a-funnel-event-using-the-events-rest-api.md "Send a funnel event using the Events REST API") events enables Discover to generate personalized product recommendations for users. Event tracking is also essential for generating site metrics such as views, visits, revenue, conversions, and so on.
