Configure the Path Analyzer on a remote processing or reporting shared server

Current version: 8.2

If you have a remote reporting or processing server, the content management server does not have direct access to the SQL Server reporting database (Sitecore.Analytics.mdf). Instead, the Path Analyzer client retrieves data from a remote server that has direct access to the SQL Server reporting database using Web API services.

If you have a remote processing environment combined with a reporting server, make the following configuration changes:

File name

Folder

Enable

Disable

Sitecore.PathAnalyzer.Services.RemoteServer.config

App_config\Include

Sitecore.PathAnalyzer.Services.config

App_config\Include

Sitecore.PathAnalyzer.Processing.config

App_config\Include

Sitecore.PathAnalyzer.Client.config

App_config\Include

Sitecore.PathAnalyzer.RemoteClient.config

App_config\Include

Sitecore.PathAnalyzer.Client.dll

Website\bin

If you have a dedicated reporting server instance, disable the following files on your processing server:

  • Sitecore.PathAnalyzer.Services.RemoteServer.config

  • Sitecore.PathAnalyzer.Services.config

Note

You must only enable the Services configuration files on servers that need to expose the Path Analyzer Web API. You must only enable the Sitecore.PathAnalyzer.Services.RemoteServer.config on servers that need to expose the Path Analyzer Web API to external clients.
