# Prepare to submit a public app for approval

After developing and testing your app, prepare to submit it for approval from Sitecore. These preparations ensure your app is ready for distribution, meets security and compliance requirements, and has visibility for your app in the public Marketplace.

To prepare to submit a public app for approval:

1. Store your app's source code in a public or private GitHub repository.
2. Complete or update your [developer profile](https://doc.sitecore.com/mp/en/developers/marketplace/complete-your-developer-profile.html).
3. Host your app yourself. Sitecore does not host your Marketplace apps.
4. Ensure data security and compliance:
    - [Data usage disclosure](https://doc.sitecore.com/mp/en/developers/marketplace/data-usage-and-ai-usage-disclosures-for-public-marketplace-apps.html) - describe how your app collects, stores, and processes data.
    - [AI usage disclosure](https://doc.sitecore.com/mp/en/developers/marketplace/data-usage-and-ai-usage-disclosures-for-public-marketplace-apps.html) - if your app uses AI or machine learning in any capacity, describe how your app uses artificial intelligence and complies with relevant regulations.
    - [Sitecore security checklist](https://doc.sitecore.com/mp/en/developers/marketplace/sitecore-security-checklist.html) - review the checklist and ensure your app complies with it.
5. If the app implements a [community app idea](https://doc.sitecore.com/mp/en/developers/marketplace/submit-ideas-for-new-marketplace-apps.html), [link your app to the idea](https://doc.sitecore.com/mp/en/developers/marketplace/link-your-public-app-to-an-app-idea.html) while the app is in the *In development* status. Linking apps to ideas helps increase visibility for both your app and your developer profile.
