Create a decision model variant

After you create a decision model, you can create a decision model variant. Sitecore Personalize enables you to create up to eight decision model variants in a decision model, not including archived variants.

You can create a new decision model variant to test it against an existing decision model variant. When you create a new decision model variant, you can either use an existing decision model variant as a base or you can create it from a blank canvas.

To create a decision model variant:

  1. On the Decision Model page, in the Draft panel, click Add Variant.

  2. If you have existing decision model variants, the Choose a Base Variant window displays. If you do not have any existing variants, proceed to the next step.

Select one of the following radio buttons and click Get Started.

    • No Base - select to use a blank canvas as your base instead of an existing decision model variant.

    • Variant Name - select the radio button next to the name of the decision model variant you want to use as a base.

  3. In the Title of new variant field, enter a name for the decision model variant.

  4. Click Create. The new decision model variant will appear as a tile in the Draft panel.

  5. Click the decision model variant tile.

  6. In the decision canvas, click and drag the necessary decision model components such as input data, decision tables, programmables, knowledge sources, and external systems, to build the variant.

  7. Connect the components on the canvas as needed to build the logic in the decision model variant.

  8. Click Save.

  9. To save the decision model variant with comments, click the arrow next to Save and select Save with comment.

  10. In the Add a comment text box, enter details of the changes you made to the decision model variant and click Save.
