Run a silent test to view offer distribution

Sitecore Personalize provides an optional Test state for decision model variants. This enables you to see the hypothetical offer distribution of a decision model variant before moving it to a Production state.

Guests don't see any offers and aren't impacted by the silent test. The silent test gathers results for 100% of the guests that were hypothetically exposed to the decision model variant. For example, if the decision model variant is associated with an experiment that runs on your organization's homepage, the silent test runs the decision model against all guests that visit your organization's homepage.

There is no allocation of audience size among decision model variants in a Test state. This means if the experiment is set to allocate 20% of guests to the variant you're testing, Sitecore Personalize disregards this and allocates 100% of the guests visiting the homepage to the variant in the silent test.

After the silent test has run for enough visitors to see the experiment, you can view a report to see if the decision model variant is distributing offers as expected.

Warning

You can't edit a decision model variant in a Test state. To edit a decision model variant in a Test state, you must move it to a  Draft state. If you do this, you lose all test data.

To run a silent test:

  1. On the navigation menu, click Decisioning.

  2. In the list of all decision models, click the name of the Decision Model that contains the decision model variant.

  3. On the Decision Model page, click and drag the Decision Model Variant tile to the Test state.

The Decision Model Profile page displays the different decision model variants and their states.
  4. In the Test Mode dialog, click Start Test. After enough guests have visited your organization's website, you can View silent test results.
