# Add-ons for Next.js applications

When you create a Next.js project with the JSS initializer script, you can include multiple add-ons in your application. Add-ons contain example implementations for additional functionality.

> [!note]
> **XM Cloud is now SitecoreAI**
> Some code examples, images, and UI labels may still use XM Cloud while engineering assets are being updated.

The add-ons available for Next.js that are compatible with SitecoreAI are:

| Name | Template name | Description |
| --- | --- | --- |
| SXA | `nextjs-sxa` | Includes example components and the setup for Headless SXA projects. |
| [Multisite](https://doc.sitecore.com/sai/en/developers/jss/22/jss-sai/the-next-js-multisite-add-on.html) | `nextjs-multisite` | Includes example setup for hosting multiple sites from a single Next.js application. |
| [XM Cloud](https://doc.sitecore.com/sai/en/developers/jss/22/jss-sai/the-jss-xm-cloud-add-on-for-next-js.html) | `nextjs-xmcloud` | Adds support for the Sitecore Context data, which simplifies connecting the application to SitecoreAI and configuring the integration of multiple composable Sitecore products.<br><br>*Only available in JSS 21.6 and later. Only compatible with SitecoreAI.* |

> [!note]
> We recommend that you develop sites using Headless SXA. SitecoreAI tooling and platform capabilities rely on the Headless SXA foundation. While building non-SXA sites might function in limited scenarios with custom modifications, non-SXA site architectures are unsupported and might break compatibility with future XM Cloud features and updates.

You provide the template names using positional arguments or the `--templates` flag. For example:

```shell
npx create-sitecore-jss <base-template-name>,<first-add-on-template-name>,<second-add-on-template-name>
```

Or:

```shell
npx create-sitecore-jss --templates <base-template-name>,<first-add-on-template-name>,<second-add-on-template-name>
```
