# Disable Next.js telemetry

Next.js [collects anonymous telemetry data](https://nextjs.org/telemetry) about general usage. Participation in the program is optional.

To disable telemetry data collection:

1. Identify your Next.js `.env` file, based on the development environment setup you chose.
    - For full-stack development, go to `src/rendering/.env`.
    - For front-end development, go to the `.env` file in the root directory of your project.
2. Set the following variable in your `.env` file:

    ```text
    NEXT_TELEMETRY_DISABLED=1
    ```
