Configure the icon for a data template
Instead of setting an icon for individual Sitecore items, you can set the icon for a data template. This icon then becomes the default icon for items based on that template. This includes the standard values item.
To configure the icon for a data template:

In the Template Manager or the Content Editor, select the data template definition item.

On the Configure tab, in the Appearance group, click Icon.

In the icon selection window, select an icon.

On the ribbon menu, click Save.

You configure most data template properties in the standard values for the template. You configure icons, however, in the template definition item.
