# Personalize pages with AI

With [Personalize](https://doc.sitecore.com/sai/en/users/sitecoreai/personalize.html "Personalize") and content customized to different audiences, visitors to your website get to see content that matches their expectations and requirements. For example, you can greet first-time visitors with more introductory copy highlighting key benefits, and show returning visitors a shorter version that gets straight to what’s new. In this way, your audience will see the page that was written specifically for them.

To create a page variant with optimized content:

1. On Page builder **Editor** tab, in the site tree, click the page you want to create a variant for.
2. On the **Personalize** tab, in the left-hand pane, click **Create variant**.
3. In the **Create new page variant** dialog, enter the page variant name.
4. In the **Create your audience** dialog, in **Build** mode, enter the name of your audience and click **Add first condition**.
5. To add a condition template to the audience builder, click :mdiPlusCircle: next to the template name, then specify the details of the condition. If you have added several conditions, set up the operators between conditions.
6. Click **Save** and close the audience builder.
7. In the left-hand pane, click the newly created variant.
8. Select the component or the text field where the written content you want to optimize is located. You must switch the component with another one or assign or create a different content item to a component to ensure that you are optimizing the variant version. Failing to do so means that you will optimize content of the original version, and not its variant.

9. On the right-hand side, click **Content** > **Optimize content**.
10. Enter a free-text prompt and click **Generate** :mdiSendCircle:, or select one of the proposed actions.
11. Review and optionally edit the optimized content on the page canvas. You can also navigate from the **Original** to the **Optimized** version of the content to compare them with each other.
12. If needed, reiterate with additional prompts and intents until you are satisfied. Click **History** :mdiHistory: to access previous prompts and results.
13. To save the optimized content on your variant page, click **Keep optimized**. Alternatively, to discard the optimized content, click the X in the top corner of the right-hand pane, and click **Cancel**.
14. When you are done editing the variant page with additional changes, to make it visible for the audience you defined, you must [publish](https://doc.sitecore.com/sai/en/users/sitecoreai/build-pages/publishing-pages-and-referenced-items/publish-a-page.html "Publish a page") it.
