# Adding components to a page

After you have created a page from a page template and optionally structured it with with rows and columns containers, you can start adding components.

In Page builder Editor mode, on the **Components** tab, you can access built-in components that are used as building blocks for your page's layout. These components have multiple origins:

- Most of the components have been built in the Content editor, usually by a developer. They are sometimes called renderings or SXA components.
- Some have been built in Forms. You can learn more about forms [here](https://doc.sitecore.com/sai/en/users/sitecoreai/design-components/forms.html "Forms").
- Some have been prototyped in the Components builder app, usually by a designer, or have been [registered](https://doc.sitecore.com/xmc/en/developers/xm-cloud/en/walkthrough--registering-an-external-react-component.html) by a developer to be available in the Page builder. You can learn how to [prototype](https://doc.sitecore.com/sai/en/users/sitecoreai/design-components/components/prototyping-components.html "Prototyping components") and [style](https://doc.sitecore.com/sai/en/users/sitecoreai/design-components/components/styling-components/style-a-component-with-a-theme.html "Style a component with a theme") them in the [Components](https://doc.sitecore.com/sai/en/users/design-components/components/components.md "Components") documentation.

While you are editing a page, you can switch between different [screen sizes](https://doc.sitecore.com/sai/en/users/sitecoreai/build-pages/working-with-the-page-builder/customize-the-editor-view.html#UUID-e0b6c1a8-e45c-fdfe-3d23-2befdd42e07a_section-idm4517954151320033067671003895 "Change the device view") to see what the page looks like on different devices.
