# Add a media file to a page

With Page builder, you can insert a media file in a page using the following fields: Image, File, Link, and Rich Text.

When inserting a media item on a page using an Image field, the following format are supported: .jpeg, .jpg, .gif, .png, .svg, .bmp, .ico, .webp.

The File, Link, and Rich Text field also support the following format: .pdf, .doc and .docx.

To add a media file to a webpage:

1. In Page builder **Editor** mode, in the **Site tree**, click the page you want to add a table to.
2. On the **Components** tab, click on a component that has an Image, File, Link or Rich Text field and drag it onto the canvas of the webpage.
3. Click in the component to open the right-hand configuration panel, then click **Content** > **Media** :mdiImage: > **Search** :mdiMagnify:.
4. In the **Add media** dialog, click on the file you want to insert in the field.

Alternatively, click **Upload media** to upload a new [media file](https://doc.sitecore.com/sai/en/users/sitecoreai/build-pages/adding-content-to-a-page/media-items.html "Media items") to your **Media library**.

5. In some specific cases, you can set [embargo dates](https://doc.sitecore.com/sai/en/users/sitecoreai/build-pages/publishing-pages-and-referenced-items/set-an-embargo-date-on-a-media-item.html "Set an embargo date on a media item") on the selected item. Keep in mind that when the embargo date is reached, the item becomes unavailable, while the component remains on the page.
6. Click **Add Selected**.
7. Perform additional formatting of the file in the right-hand configuration panel if needed.

The configuration settings available for media files are:

- Change image text alternative
- Toggle caption on and enter an image caption below the media file.
- Inline, centered, or side image placement
- Add a link URL to the image, and set it up to open in a new page.
