# Generate a campaign brief

Brief generation with the [Brand Assistant](https://doc.sitecore.com/sai/en/users/sitecoreai/plan-campaign-strategy/using-the-brand-assistant/using-the-brand-assistant.html "Using the Brand Assistant") enables marketers to quickly create clear, on-brand, and well-structured [briefs](https://doc.sitecore.com/sai/en/users/sitecoreai/plan-campaign-strategy/managing-briefs/managing-briefs.html "Managing briefs") with minimal effort.

The **Brief** tool uses a [brief type](https://doc.sitecore.com/sai/en/users/sitecoreai/plan-campaign-strategy/managing-briefs/brief-types/brief-types.html "Brief types") as a template, ensuring that every generated brief follows a consistent structure with the appropriate fields and sections.

> [!important]
> Currently, Brand Assistant uses the first brief type created as the default template. Support for selecting and using multiple brief types is planned in future enhancements.

Simply describe what you need, and the Brand Assistant activates its built-in *Brief agent* to organize, refine, and structure the content within that template through a guided [thinking process](https://doc.sitecore.com/sai/en/users/sitecoreai/plan-campaign-strategy/using-the-brand-assistant/how-the-brand-assistant-works.html#UUID-a11f06a6-57c7-3e6a-ef0d-213cdf6876e3_UUID-ead41837-6a15-9f50-1086-6ce119dfc2bd).

Powered by AI, this feature transforms simple prompts into complete, structured briefs in seconds.

Each generated draft includes clearly defined sections that can be easily reviewed, edited, and published for future campaign use.

To generate a campaign brief:

1. In the navigation menu, click **Strategy**. Then, in the left sidebar, select **Assistant**.
2. Select your brand kit. If you have multiple brand kits, ensure you choose the correct one for accurate results.
3. Optionally, [select information sources](https://doc.sitecore.com/sai/en/users/sitecoreai/plan-campaign-strategy/using-the-brand-assistant/configure-brand-assistant-information-sources.html "Configure Brand Assistant information sources") and [choose a writing style](https://doc.sitecore.com/sai/en/users/sitecoreai/plan-campaign-strategy/using-the-brand-assistant/configure-brand-assistant-writing-style.html "Configure Brand Assistant writing style") to match your needs. These preferences enable you to configure how the Brand Assistant generates responses.
4. To enable brief generation, you can either:
    - Click **Tools** and then select **Brief**. When enabled, **Brief** is displayed in the chat field.
    - Include the word *brief* to your prompt to trigger the brief generation workflow automatically without opening **Tools**.
5. In the chat field, enter your prompt. Clear, detailed prompts help the Brand Assistant generate relevant answers. For example: *Create a brief for a new kitchen product line for thanksgiving*.

Prompts can be entered in any [supported language](https://platform.openai.com/docs/guides/speech-to-text#supported-languages).

6. Optionally, click the **Upload** :mdiPaperclip: icon or drag and drop a file into the chat to add context for the Brand Assistant. You can upload multiple files at once:
    - **Images** - upload .jpg, .jpeg, or .png files up to 20 MB each (50 MB total for all images per chat).
    - **PDFs** - upload .pdf files up to 20 MB each (50 MB total for all PDFs per chat).

Uploaded files stay visible in the chat and appear side by side.

7. Click **Submit** :mdiSendCircle:.

After submitting your prompt, the Brand Assistant might take a few minutes to generate a response, especially if it's using multiple agents to complete the task.

## Understanding the generated response

> [!note]
> The Brand Assistant strives for accuracy but it might occasionally generate incorrect responses. Always verify the information provided.

Each response generated by the Brand Assistant using the **Brief** tool includes the following elements:

![The generated response includes details of the thinking process, the brief generated, sources, and follow-up questions.](https://doc.sitecore.com/api/markdown-image/sai/en/users/sitecoreai/images/Campaign_Brief_AI_generated.png)

1. **Thinking** - shows how the response was generated. Click to expand and view details of the agentic AI process, including where the information came from - like brand knowledge or web searches.
2. **Response** - the generated response includes the following:
    - Left-hand pane - a concise, bulleted version of the brief, designed for quick reference and easy identification of [key sections](https://doc.sitecore.com/sai/en/users/sitecoreai/plan-campaign-strategy/using-the-brand-assistant/generate-a-campaign-brief.html#sections-in-an-ai-generated-brief "Sections in an AI-generated brief").
    - Right-hand pane - a fully developed, narrative-style campaign brief (*artifact*) that expands on the same information, ready to be [published](https://doc.sitecore.com/sai/en/users/sitecoreai/plan-campaign-strategy/using-the-brand-assistant/generate-a-campaign-brief.html#publish-the-brief "Publish the brief") for future campaign use.
3. **Suggested follow-up questions** - related questions or prompts you can use to continue the conversation or explore more topics.
4. **Sources** - list of sources used to generate the content. This might include brand knowledge, web sources, or both.

## Sections in an AI-generated brief

Each AI-generated brief is structured using a brief type as a template. Currently, Brand Assistant uses the first brief type created as the default template. Future updates will support multiple brief types, each with its own structure and sections, such as:

- **Objectives** - define the main goals of the campaign and set its overall direction.
- **Target audience** - describe who the campaign is for, identify key customer groups, and explain what motivates them.
- **Message** - define the core idea and tone of the campaign, including what the brand communicates and how it wants the audience to feel.
- **Creative requirements** - outline visual and design guidelines to ensure alignment with the brand’s identity and campaign goals.
- **Timeline** - provide a schedule of key milestones and deadlines to keep teams on track.
- **Budget** - estimate the resources required for the campaign and help prioritize spending.
- **Market research** - summarize relevant insights, including trends, competitors, and customer behavior, to inform decisions.
- **Additional notes** - capture any extra context or considerations, such as digital strategies or sustainability goals.
