# Generate long-form content using brainstorming

The **Brainstorming** tool in the [Brand Assistant](https://doc.sitecore.com/sai/en/users/sitecoreai/plan-campaign-strategy/using-the-brand-assistant/using-the-brand-assistant.html "Using the Brand Assistant") helps marketers with creative ideation and long-form content generation. It's particularly valuable for developing in-depth materials such as blog posts, articles, and campaign narratives that reflect the brand’s voice and identity.

When the **Brainstorming** tool is enabled, the Brand Assistant uses a *[chain-of-thought](https://doc.sitecore.com/sai/en/users/sitecoreai/plan-campaign-strategy/using-the-brand-assistant/how-the-brand-assistant-works.html#UUID-a11f06a6-57c7-3e6a-ef0d-213cdf6876e3_UUID-81145928-048c-43a7-9c8a-982ca802b6d8)* process and coordinates a sequence of agents to guide the creative process. It begins by outlining key ideas and generating relevant questions, then develops these into a cohesive, well-structured, and comprehensive piece of content.

To generate long-form content using brainstorming:

1. In the navigation menu, click **Strategy**. Then, in the left sidebar, select **Assistant**.
2. Select your brand kit. If you have multiple brand kits, ensure you choose the correct one for accurate results.
3. Optionally, [select information sources](https://doc.sitecore.com/sai/en/users/sitecoreai/plan-campaign-strategy/using-the-brand-assistant/configure-brand-assistant-information-sources.html "Configure Brand Assistant information sources") and [choose a writing style](https://doc.sitecore.com/sai/en/users/sitecoreai/plan-campaign-strategy/using-the-brand-assistant/configure-brand-assistant-writing-style.html "Configure Brand Assistant writing style") to match your needs. These preferences enable you to configure how the Brand Assistant generates responses.
4. To enable brainstorming, click **Tools** and then click **Brainstorming**. When enabled, **Brainstorming** is displayed in the chat field.
5. In the chat field, enter your prompt. Clear, detailed prompts help the Brand Assistant generate relevant answers.

Prompts can be entered in any [supported language](https://platform.openai.com/docs/guides/speech-to-text#supported-languages).

6. Optionally, click the **Upload** :mdiPaperclip: icon or drag and drop a file into the chat to add context for the Brand Assistant. You can upload multiple files at once:
    - **Images** - upload .jpg, .jpeg, or .png files up to 20 MB each (50 MB total for all images per chat).
    - **PDFs** - upload .pdf files up to 20 MB each (50 MB total for all PDFs per chat).

Uploaded files stay visible in the chat and appear side by side.

7. Click **Submit** :mdiSendCircle:.

After submitting your prompt, the Brand Assistant might take a few minutes to generate a response, especially if it's using multiple agents to complete the task.

## Understanding the generated response

> [!note]
> The Brand Assistant strives for accuracy but it might occasionally generate incorrect responses. Always verify the information provided.

Each response generated by the Brand Assistant using the **Brainstorming** tool includes the following elements:

![The generated response includes details of the thinking process, a summary, sources, and follow-up questions.](https://doc.sitecore.com/api/markdown-image/sai/en/users/sitecoreai/images/Brainstorming.png)

1. **Thinking** - shows how the response was generated,. Click to expand and view details of the *[chain-of-thought](https://doc.sitecore.com/sai/en/users/sitecoreai/plan-campaign-strategy/using-the-brand-assistant/how-the-brand-assistant-works.html#UUID-a11f06a6-57c7-3e6a-ef0d-213cdf6876e3_UUID-81145928-048c-43a7-9c8a-982ca802b6d8)* process, including the specific steps completed or in progress, from creating an outline to generating the final response.
2. **Response** - the generated response includes the following:
    - Left-hand pane - a concise summary of the long-form content produced through brainstorming.
    - Right-hand pane - the full detailed version of the response (*artifact*), labeled *v1*. You can copy or [refine](https://doc.sitecore.com/sai/en/users/sitecoreai/plan-campaign-strategy/using-the-brand-assistant/generate-long-form-content-using-brainstorming.html#refining-the-generated-response "Refining the generated response"), or export the artifact as a DOCX file as needed.
3. **Suggested follow-up questions** - related questions or prompts you can use to continue the conversation or explore more topics.
4. **Sources** - list of sources used to generate the content. This might include brand knowledge, web sources, or both.

## Refining the generated response

If the Brand Assistant's response isn't what you expected, try the following:

- Rephrase your prompt.
- Add more detail or context.
- Clarify your request.

Then, regenerate the response for better results.

> [!note]
> If the Brand Assistant isn’t generating accurate or on-brand content, it's often due to incomplete or inaccurate knowledge sources in your brand kit.

When an artifact is created with the brainstorming option, you can refine it by editing the content manually:

- **Edit manually** - in the right-hand pane, locate the text you want to change. Make edits inline, highlight, rewrite, or delete.
- **Use Quick Actions** - at the bottom of the artifact, select built-in options to simplify, rephrase, make the text longer or shorter.
- After editing the artifact, the Brand Assistant automatically saves your changes when you close the artifact. This creates a new version, such as *v2* and *v3* while preserving previous versions.
- Use the version drop-down menu in the right-hand pane to switch between versions.
