# Create or edit a skill

Admins can create custom [skills](https://doc.sitecore.com/sai/en/users/sitecoreai/working-with-agentic-studio/understanding-agents/agent-skills.html "Agent skills") to standardize workflows and share best practices across agents. Once created, skills can be reused when [creating standard agents](https://doc.sitecore.com/sai/en/users/sitecoreai/working-with-agentic-studio/understanding-agents/create-a-standard-agent.html "Create a standard agent"), adding an [Invoke agent](https://doc.sitecore.com/sai/en/users/sitecoreai/working-with-agentic-studio/understanding-agents/available-actions-in-the-workflow-editor/available-actions-in-the-workflow-editor.html#example-configuring-an-invoke-agent-action) action in a [workflow agent](https://doc.sitecore.com/sai/en/users/sitecoreai/working-with-agentic-studio/understanding-agents/create-a-workflow-agent/create-a-workflow-agent.html#build-and-test-the-agent-workflow), and using the [chat interface](https://doc.sitecore.com/sai/en/users/sitecoreai/working-with-agentic-studio/understanding-chat/understanding-chat.html "Chat") in Agentic studio.

Admins can create skills manually or by uploading a Markdown file, and can update custom skills at any time.

> [!tip]
> If you already have a skill in Claude, you can [convert it into a custom skill](https://doc.sitecore.com/sai/en/users/sitecoreai/working-with-agentic-studio/agentic-studio-settings/convert-a-claude-skill-to-an-agentic-studio-skill.html) for use in Agentic studio.

## Create a custom skill

Admins can manually create a new custom skill to define reusable instructions for agents.

> [!note]
> **Before you begin**
> - Make sure you have a [Builder License](https://doc.sitecore.com/sai/en/users/sitecoreai/working-with-agentic-studio/agentic-studio-settings/manage-users.html#builder-license "Builder license"). This license is required to create skills in Agentic studio.
>
> - Plan your skill. Make sure to identify 2–3 clear use cases the skill should support, including triggers, steps, and expected outcomes.

To create a skill:

1. In the navigation menu, click **Agentic** and then, in the left sidebar, click :mdiNotebookOutline: **Skills**.
2. On the **Skills** page, click **Create skill**.
3. In the skill editor, complete the following fields:
    - **Name** - enter a clear, descriptive name for the skill.
    - **Description** - provide a short summary of what the skill does and when to use it.
    - **Tags** (optional) - add keywords to help organize and find the skill.
4. In the **Content** section, define the instructions the agent will follow. The content here helps the agent understand what to do, how to do it, and what the final output should include.

You can add content by writing or pasting Markdown, or by using rich text.

## Upload a custom skill

Admins can create a custom skill by uploading a Markdown file that contains the skill instructions.
