# Create an entity

To create a custom *entity*:

1. On the menu bar, click **Administration** > **Domain Settings**.
2. On the **General Settings** tab, click **Entities**.
3. On the **Entities** card, click **Edit**.
4. Click **Add Entity**, then click **Custom Entity**.
5. To change the name, in the **Enter entity name** field, click ![pencil_grey.png](https://doc.sitecore.com/api/markdown-image/search/en/users/search-user-guide/images/pencil_grey.png), then enter the new name.
6. To set attributes, in the **Attribute Template** drop-down menu, select an option. The template attributes are displayed below, in the **Attributes** section.
7. Click **Save**.
8. To publish the changes, click **Publish**.

    > After selecting an attribute template, you can [add attributes](https://doc.sitecore.com/search/en/users/search-user-guide/configure-entities/add-an-attribute.html "Add an attribute") that are not part of the template on the **Attributes** screen.
