# Designing campaigns

When it comes to designing campaigns, you have more options than just using email campaign templates. With Sitecore Send, you can customize the [layout](https://doc.sitecore.com/send/en/users/sitecore-send/campaigns/designing-campaigns/work-with-campaign-layouts.html "Work with campaign layouts"), add different [items](https://doc.sitecore.com/send/en/users/sitecore-send/campaigns/designing-campaigns/add-and-edit-campaign-items.html "Add and edit campaign items"), and tweak [general settings](https://doc.sitecore.com/send/en/users/sitecore-send/campaigns/designing-campaigns/edit-the-general-settings-of-a-campaign.html "Edit the general settings of a campaign") to create a design that aligns perfectly with your email marketing goals.

> In the layout editor, you'll notice that the layout itself has a light blue border, indicating that it can hold multiple items. Each item within the layout has a dark blue border and is treated as a singular element. You can customize both layouts and items, and save them for future use. This allows you to reuse your preferred structures or individual components efficiently in different campaigns.
