Work with customer accounts

Abstract

How to work with the Commerce Business Tools, including how to manage customer accounts and how to view the orders a customer has created.

The Sitecore XC Business Tools provide users the ability to manage and update customer information. The customer details page also provides the ability to view all orders a customer has made.

Note

In order to have access to the Customers dashboard in the Business Tools, users must be assigned one of the following user roles: Customer Service Representative or Customer Service Representative Administrator.

The Business Tools search feature allows you to search for customers using the Customers dashboard. You can search for a specific customer, or for a list of all customers with a specific status (for example, inactive customers).

You can then edit customer information (for example, change a customer address), or display a list of orders associated with that customer. The following shows an example of a customer search results:

You can use any of the following customer properties as the search term:

  • User name

  • First name

  • Last name

  • Email address

  • Fully qualified name

  • Status (for example, ActiveAccount, InactiveAccount)

To search for a customer:

  1. Log in to Sitecore and, on the Sitecore Launchpad, in the Commerce section, click Business Tools.

  2. Click Customers to open the Customers dashboard.

  3. In the Search section, in the Term field, enter the term you want to search.

    Note

    You can use any of the term properties as the search filter.

  4. Optionally, enter a filter to further refine your search.

  5. Press Enter to perform the search. The Results section lists matching customer accounts.

The customer details page displays information pertaining to the customer account and provides a list of all orders made by the customer. You can access customer account details from the list of customers returned in your search results, or from the list of of customers displayed in the Most Recent Customers section (if the customer was just recently created).

To view customer details or customer orders:

  1. Log in to Sitecore and, on the Sitecore Launchpad, in the Commerce section, click Business Tools.

  2. Click Customers to open the Customers dashboard.

  3. On the Customers dashboard, in the Most Recent Customers section or in the Results section (if you used the search to find a customer), click the customer's email address or fully qualified name.

    The customer account details are displayed, including a list of customer orders.

  4. Optionally, to see the details of a specific customer order, in the Customer Orders section, click the order.

  1. Log in to Sitecore and, on the Sitecore Launchpad, in the Commerce section, click Business Tools.

  2. Search the customer record you want to edit.

  3. In the Addresses section of a customer details page, click +.

  4. In the Add window, select a country from the drop-down list, click the check mark, and then enter the details of the address.

  5. In the Details section of a customer details page, click Edit. You can edit every field except the account number.
