Creating users in XM Cloud

XM Cloud authentication and user creation is handled by the Sitecore Cloud Portal.

To add someone as a user in XM Cloud, you must invite them to your Sitecore Cloud Portal organization and give them access to your XM Cloud app. When they log in to the XM Cloud app, their user account is created in that XM Cloud app.

Note

If a team member has an Organization Admin or Organization Owner role in Sitecore Cloud Portal organization, they automatically have the highest role in all XM Cloud apps in the organization.

In the Sitecore Cloud Portal, you can assign the following app roles in your XM Cloud app:

User

The XM Cloud user account has a content author role by default.

You can assign security roles and access rights to their account.

Admin

The XM Cloud user account always the highest role in the XM Cloud app.

You cannot delete this user or remove their administrator role through XM Cloud. You must remove the team member or change their role from the Sitecore Cloud Portal.

Note

A team member must accept the invitation and log in to the XM Cloud app before an administrator can configure their access rights and security roles.
