Create a content item and versions
In XM Cloud Explorer, you can create new content items, such as sample items, folders, pages, and redirects. You can also add alternate versions to any content item.
Create a content item
To create a content item in XM Cloud Explorer:

In XM Cloud Explorer, click through the cascading lists until you are at the location where you want to create the new item.

Click Create and click one of the options, for example, page, folder, or redirect, in the drop-down menu.

Enter a name for the item and click
to create it.
You can now edit the new item in the field editor.
Duplicate a content item
You can also create a new item by duplicating an existing item.
To duplicate an item:

In XM Cloud Explorer, click through the cascading lists until you find the item you want to duplicate.

In the editor right pane, click
, then click Duplicate. -
You can enter an item name for the duplicated item before clicking Duplicate.
The duplicated item will appear on the same level as the original. When duplicating a folder, all sub-items will be duplicated as well.
Rename a content item
When you created an item, you entered a name for the item. This name is used to display the item in the cascading lists in Explorer as well as in the content tree in the page builder. It is also used to build the URL of the item.
You can change the Item name later. This will update the item name in the cascading lists in Explorer and the content tree in the page builder. It will also change the URL for the item.
You can also choose to add a Display name, in which case the URL remains the same, and only the Display name of the item in the cascading lists and the content tree is changed.
To rename an item:

In the cascading lists, click the item you want to rename.

In the item window to the right of the cascading lists, click
near the item name. -
You can now do the following:

Edit the Item name. This changes the URL for the item. It is also used automatically as Display name, unless you choose a different name for the Display name.

Add a Display name. This does not change the URL for the item, but updates the name that is visible in the cascading lists in XM Cloud Explorer as well as in the content tree in the page builder.

Click Rename.
The name is updated immediately in the item window, but it can take a few seconds before it is updated in the cascading lists. Both Item and Display names can be used to search for a content item in the page builder.
Create a version of an item
In XM Cloud Explorer, you can easily replace a content item with another version.
Working with versions lets you store backup revisions of a content item as well as work on the next revision of this content item.
To create an additional version of an item:

Click the item you want to create a version for.

In the right-hand pane, click the Versions tab.

Click Create version.
The new version automatically becomes the latest version, which is the version currently being drafted. The latest version only shows on the website after it is published.
To make a version publishable, it needs to be previously approved according to the approval workflow if one has been set up.
After a version has been approved, it becomes automatically the latest publishable version, unless publication is restricted.
You can prevent the publication of a version by not approving the version, by setting up a publication schedule, or by marking the item as unavailable for publication.
