Edit the page settings

In the page editor, you can open the page settings of the page directly in the editor view. In the Page settings pane, you can change the item or display name of the page, as well as change the page design or the insert options for the page.

Open the page settings

To open the page settings:

  1. In the page builder Editor mode, on the Pages tab, in the site tree, click a page to open it.

  2. For this page, in the site tree, click Actions > Settings.

In the Page settings pane, you can access the details of the page, such as:

  • Created by - the email address of the user who created the item.

  • Last modified by - the email address of the user who last modified the item.

  • Date created - date and time when the item was created

  • Date last modified - date and time when the item was last modified.

  • Languages - the list of languages the site supports and if the page has a version in the language or not.

Rename the item or display name

An page in Sitecore can have two names:

  • The item name is used for underlying folders and back-end processes, as well as to build the URL of the item. The item name is the same for all language versions and it can't contain special characters. This is because item names are used in URLs.

  • The display name is an optional name that can be language specific and written with special characters. If you change the display name, the change only applies to the current language. The display name is used by default in other contexts, for example, in the content tree in the page builder.

After a page is created, you can change both its item name and its display name.

To change the item name or the display name of the page:

  • In the Page settings pane, in the Item name or Display name field, enter the new name you want to give the page.

The new name autosaves. If you have changed the item name, you can check that the name has changed in the Content Editor, or in the URL of the page. If you have changed the display name, you can check that the new name shows in the page builder's site tree.

Change the page design

When you add a page to your website, you do so by choosing a data template that is based on a page design. You can modify the page design of the page after the page is created.

To modify the page design of a page:

  1. In the Page settings pane, in the Page design section, in the Change page design field, click the page design you want to use for this page.

  2. To apply your changes, click Save.

Configure insert options for an existing page

When you add a page to your website, you do so by choosing a data template that might have some insert options predefined, or alternatively no insert options at all. You can also add or modify the insert options after the page is created. In this case, the insert options apply only to that page.

To add or modify the insert options of a page:

  1. In the Page settings pane, find the Insert options section where you can access the following details:

    • Template - template that was used to build the page.

    • Template insert options - the insert options initially set for the template, if any.

    • Page insert options - the insert option for the page.

  2. To change the Page insert options, select the check boxes for all the templates you want this page to be a parent of.

  3. If you want to restore the insert options to those originally set for the template of the page, click Restore.

  4. To apply your changes to the page, click Save.
