Save a custom item or layout for reuse

Forms gives you the option to create custom items or layouts that you can save in your form without having to save the entire design as a template. You can save an item you have created from scratch or reused from a specific template, for example, a button, a spacer, or any reusable form item or layout.

After you have added items to your form, you can create a custom item or layout in the form editor, and then use or delete it later.

Save a custom item

Custom items are items you have created from scratch and save to reuse on your forms.

To save a custom item:

  1. In the editing area, hover your mouse over the item that you want to save, to display the Actions menu.

  2. To save your custom item, click Create custom item .

  3. In the Save custom item dialog, enter the name of your custom item.

  4. Click Save to apply your changes.

The saved item now appears on the Items tab. You can now add the item to your design.

Save a custom layout

Custom layouts are layouts you have created from scratch and save to reuse on your forms.

To save a custom layout:

  1. In the editing area, hover your mouse over the layout that you want to save, to display the Actions menu.

  2. To save your custom layout, click Save custom layout .

  3. In the Save custom layout dialog, enter the name of your custom layout.

  4. Click Save to apply your changes.

The saved layout appears on the Layouts tab. You can now add a layout to your design.

Delete a custom item or layout

You can delete a saved custom item or layout. This doesn't affect forms using the saved custom item or layout.

To delete a saved custom item or layout:

  • Hover over the saved custom item or layout in the editor's left pane and click .
