Work with page analytics

In the page builder Analyze mode, you can view the analytics data for a specific page, or you can compare metrics between a page and one of its variants.

Access page insights in Analyze

To view page analytics in the page builder Analyze mode:

  1. Open the page builder, and in the side toolbar, click the Analyze tab.

  2. In the global toolbar, select the site and language of the website for which you want to access the analytics data.

  3. In the Time field at the top of the screen, select the time period for which you want to see data.

When you have specified a time period, the dashboard is refreshed by loading the data for that specific time period. After this, the data is refreshed every minute.

  4. On the Page insights, browse the Site tree and click the page for which you want to see analytics.

  5. To see analytics for a particular variant of the page, click on the variant name in the drop-down menu to the left.

  6. To compare data between two variants, click Add page variant and click on another variant name in the drop-down menu to the right.

When comparing two pages variants, the data is shown using side-by-side graphs for easier comparison.

Page engagement metrics

Analyze and Analytics give insights on traffic to a page by displaying the following data:

  • Visitors - the count of individuals who have one or more visits to a site or page during the selected time period.

  • Average page views per session - the average number of pages viewed by a visitor during one session.

  • Views - the number of views for the page of the page within the selected time frame.

  • Visits - the count of active and closed visits that occurred on your page in the time period, with a trend comparing this count to the one from the previous period. You can view the data as a line or as a column chart. Hover the mouse over data points to show the individual values.

    Note

This time series reports on active and closed visits over the time period, so it is not possible to sum these values to get a total number of active visits, because the visits that were active for over an hour would be double-counted.

  • Visits by time of day - the sum of closed visits (no longer active) to the page, for each hour and day of the week shown as a heatmap. The darker the color gradient, the higher the count. Hover over a square to see the data that the square represents.

    Note

The heatmap only reports on visits that closed during the time period.

  • Variant views - the number of views for the top five variants of the page within the selected time frame.

  • Top countries - the name of the top five countries from which a visit originated. You can view the data as a bar chart or as a scatter plot.

    Note

Country data relies on IP addresses and the data can be misleading when visitors use a VPN to access your site.

  • Source - the count of visits by source, where the source is derived from referrer data, meaning the last web address accessed by a browser prior to loading this particular webpage. For example, the referrer is google.com if the visitor accessed the page from a Google search.

  • Browser - the top five browsers that were used to access your site. You can view the data as a bar chart or as a scatter plot.

  • Operating system - the top five device types that were used to access your site. You can view the data as a bar chart or as a scatter plot.

In addition to absolute values, the dashboard provides trends data, comparing data from the current time period to the one from the previous period.
