Configure guest identifiers in the xDB to CDP Migration Tool
Before you start the migration of xDB data to CDP, you need to check that the identity rules in your instance of CDP are correctly mapped in the xDB to CDP Migration Tool.
Identity rules are used by CDP in the process of identifying guests. They define the criteria for identifying a guest as a customer and associating guest interactions with a specific guest profile. We recommend that you familiarize yourself with identity resolution before migrating xDB data to CDP.
If you changed the default identity rule in your CDP tenant, or added new rules, you'll need to update the guest identifiers in the xDB to CDP Migration Tool to correctly map to the identity rules.
The default identity rule created in each CDP tenant is:
identifiers.provider= 'email'
-
Check whether you have changed the default identity rule, or added other identity rules in your CDP tenant by viewing your organization's identity rules.
To update your guest identifiers:
-
Click the step and scroll down to the Identifiers section.
-
If you've changed the default identity rule in your CDP tenant, update the content in the Identifiers section to match it.
-
If you've added additional identity rules, click +Add item and then set the relevant values in the Provider and ID fields.
-
Add new items for any additional rules, and then repeat the process for the other recipe.
If one of the providers set in the Identifiers section does not map correctly to an identity rule, CDP will reject the guests with the code 400 and show the message: Not enough identifying information.
