# Manually enable the xConnect Collection service

You can manually enable the xConnect Collection service on any other XP Service application role to create a combined role. For example, to combine the xConnect Collection service with the Reference Data service:

1. Install the Reference Data service using a WDP from the XP Scaled packages.
2. Manually enable the following configuration files by removing the `.disabled` suffix:

    | File | Path |
    | --- | --- |
    | `sc.XConnect.Collection.Initialize.xml` | `App_Data\Config\Sitecore\Collection\` |
    | `sc.XConnect.MarketingAutomation.Initialize.xml` | `App_Data\Config\Sitecore\MarketingAutomation\` |

3. Add any additional [connection strings required by the xConnect Collection service](https://doc.sitecore.com/xp/en/developers/102/platform-administration-and-architecture/xconnect-collection-service.html "xConnect Collection service").
