# Enable content testing without a workflow

You can start a component or personalization test without putting it through a workflow. This might be useful if your organization does not use workflows to approve tests for your website.

To allow for starting a test without a workflow:

- In the `Sitecore.ContentTesting.config` file, change the `ContentTesting.AlwaysShowTestCandidateNotification` setting from false to true.

Now the **Create a test** link will appear when you create new component variants on a page.
