# Customize an alert

A triggered alert sends an email message to preconfigured recipients when a predefined condition occurs; for example, when a diagnostic value exceeds a specified threshold. In the Azure portal, you can update your alerts, create new alerts, and adjust the frequency of alerts.

This topic describes how to customize the alerts provisioned by the Sitecore Azure Monitoring and Alerts Basic module.
