# Enable publishing language fallback

Sitecore can display item content in a fallback language if the feature is enabled.

To enable language fallback:

- Set either (or both) of the following configuration settings to `true`:

```xml
<setting name="ExperienceEdge.EnableItemLanguageFallback" value="false"/>
<setting name="ExperienceEdge.EnableFieldLanguageFallback" value="false"/>

```

> You must publish items with item fallback enabled with their fallback languages, to create them in Experience Edge. After publishing, the dependent language items are linked to the fallback items.
