Create a Category or Product

Create a new category or product in a parent category.

Complete the following prerequisites:

Caution

Re-index the site immediately after creating new catalog items. To do this, modify the new item and save it again. The system will re-index the item.

At the Content Editor

  1. Browse to the category to edit under: /sitecore/templates/Commerce/Catalog/

  2. Browse to the location in the Content Tree (Catalog and Category) where you would like the new Category or Product.

  3. Request an item instance.

    Right click, select Insert → Insert from Templatefrom the context menu.

  4. Select a Category or Product template.

    Browse or search to /sitecore/templates/Commerce/Catalog Generated/.

  5. Name the new item.

    Enter a name in the Item Name dialog box and click Insert.

    Note

    The name is also the ID of the item. This value cannot be changed after the item is created

  6. Save your changes.

    Click Save on the Home ribbon.

    Catalog Items are available in the content tree. If required, you can refresh the Catalogs node by collapsing it, then expanding it again.
