Set up synchronization

You can now configure the sync process. There are two options for where to synchronize the data to:
- Synchronize Sitecore contact data to the SFMC centralized data extension (xDB Contact) only.
- Synchronize Sitecore contact data to the SFMC centralized data extension and the API event data extension via Journey.
For both synchronization types, there are multiple ways you can enroll contacts into a Marketing Automation plan in Sitecore. The scenarios presented here use enroll contact from contact list. You can also use contact completing events, scheduled enrolment, and rules match. For more details, please refer to the user documentation for Marketing Automation.
Note
By default, the contactKey attribute is the primary key.
If a contact already exists, based on the contactKey in the centralized data extension, the synchronization updates the existing record.
