# Configure your placeholders to be fixed or fluid (flex)

You can configure the placeholders of a theme to be fixed or fluid. In the Content Editor, these settings are called **Fixed** and **Flex** and originate from the placeholder styles defined on the grid you are using.

This means that, for example, if you select **Flex** for the `main` placeholder, then the `container-fluid` CSS class is assigned to the `div` wrapper of that placeholder.

To configure your placeholder to be fixed or fluid:

1. In the content tree, navigate to **Media Library**, click **Themes**, and then select the theme you want to configure placeholders for.
2. In the **Placeholder settings** field, for each placeholder, select one of the following values:
    - Flex.
    - Fixed.

3. Save your changes.
